Previously I shared with you all my admiration of lyricists that also impacted my inspiration of becoming a Writer. Solange has created buzz again with her 4th solo album When I get Home. It’s no surprise that people are still wowed at her creative genius when it comes to composing music and visuals.
I didn’t really get hip to Solange’s talent until her album Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams debuted. Her sense of 60’s and 70’s vibe with this album pulled me in with her ability to add her modern twist to it.
Her next project, True , released in 2010 really allowed me to appreciate her talent. The song and accompanying video Losing You really captured her essence of a “true to self” artist.
Of course people were in awe when A Seat at the Table debuted in 2016. Her candidness of her experiences with depression, being Black, and being herself opened the conversation for individuals like myself to really delve into my own life’s understanding.
Now Solange has come to us again with a very dope and unique album and 33 minute visual that captures creativity at its finest. What I admire about this Creative so much is that she allows herself to be unconventional. To me that’s what being a Lively Creative is all about. Establishing your own authority of your truth, unapologetically.
Solange’s style has never changed; it has greatly evolved.
Solange’s lyrics creates a story. Her story. That is what life is all about. Utilizing our best creative outlets to be a vessel to share our stories and fulfill our purpose.
