Fall 2017 I decided to take on my largest DIY project to date: refurbishing heavy old wood bedroom dressers. This project was so fun and easy! I wanted a new bedroom set and didn’t want to spend over $1,000 for a new look. So I tested out a few things.
Go ahead, take a look at these beauties😍

Okay so maybe they don’t look THAT glamorous initally but when I first laid eyes on them I knew this was a perfect opportunity to CREATE! I went to my nearest hardware store and purchased my supplies:
- Electric Sander (paid like $12 for mine)
- Goggles for eye protection
- Paint brushes
- Masking Tape
- Indoor Paint, satin finish
- Metallic spray paint for my handles
- Liners for the inside and tops of my drawers
My first step was to clean the old wood as much as I could. I also removed all the handles. I let the dressers dry then I went to work with the sander. Sanding was honestly the most fun part.(I felt like a real professional LOL). After I sanded each dresser I cleaned it a second time to rid the dust and additional dirt.

With assistance of course I moved my furniture to an empty, DIY-prepared room to get started with painting. I used one coat and the following day did another. I was extremely impressed by the satin finish of this paint.

On the last day I spray painted the handles, inserted lining for my dresser drawers, and for the top platform I added my own lining to protect the paint from scratching. Annnddddd viola!

Again, the finish on this project was absolutely amazing! I have received many inquiries in regards to the color I used. Unfortunately I don’t recall nor have any of the paint left (the remaining was used for a separate project).
I finally added the mirror to the dresser now the room looks like ROYALTY. Super classy on a budget.
