Read. Write. Repeat.
To be a writer you must first be a reader. Understanding the essentials is key. You will be able to determine your preferred writing style and genres you are attracted to. Like any artist, you must be inspired.
Read, write, and repeat. When in doubt, read. Explore various topics, broaden your experiences through this avenue. Find an interesting book or article. Read then write about your reaction or response. OR, if the reading “sparks” something within you, write.
As a writer, we are our own strongest critics. Writing requires creating a habit.
Read. Write. Repeat. Think about it like this: you want to become a body builder. However there are repetitive steps and proper habits to form in order to become competitive. Let’s say you want to become a great baker. Same formation. Create proper habits. What ever your goals are. Start with writing how you feel at the moment. Reflect on your day. For those who want to creatively write, create a list of the themes and topics that attracts you. Words that inspire. I call this “free writing”. Free writing allows room for all creative content.
Creating on a blank canvas may sounds scary and intimidating however we all must start with something.
Today I challenge you so that you may begin your journey of finding your true and authentic voice through writing. You will be able to create that platform in which you will attract your reading tribe and gain the exposure you desire. But first it starts with the basics.
Read. Write. Repeat. 😄
