Last week, I had the opportunity to visit Nicole who is an aesthetician at Harmych Facial Plastic Surgery for a facial consultation. I met her a few weeks back during my Self Care Day with other Cleveland Bloggers/Influencers (you can read more about the complimentary services we participated in on my site as well). We talked about my current skincare routines and what issues that I am currently facing with my skincare.
Since I am a Chocolate Gal, my skin gets pretty oily and I have even pigmentation issues. So Nicole and I decided that it would be beneficial to try the Dermaplaning procedure.
Dermaplaning is a form of exfoliating to help remove layers of dead skin with a surgical scalpel. Please keep in mind that this procedure MUST be done by a professional. Seek proper consultation before getting this done.
Here are a few things I learned about Dermaplaning:
It doesn’t hurt
The procedure is painless and actually very relaxing. Nicole’s studio was super cute and cozy!
It removes that annoying facial peach fuzz!
Your hair doesn’t grow back thicker and darker. So if you’re hesitant about trying it out because of that, don’t worry. Trust me, I have THICK hair and so far I haven’t had any craziness with hair growing back.
You can go as often as every 4 weeks
If you are a good candidate for this, you could go as often as once a month. Dermaplaning is not a harsh procedure and regular proper skincare routines are equally important.
SPF is extremely important- even if you don’t get dermaplaning.
Since dermaplaning takes off those ‘extra layers’, having a SPF lotion is extremely important. Even for my Chocolate People out there: You need to wear SPF too, even in the winter months!
Would I go get a dermaplaning procedure again? Absolutely! I’m thinking about adding this to my routine every 6-8 weeks.
