As of late, I noticed that many influencers, especially on Instagram have these scares where they think their pages were deleted for whatever frivolous reason. I remember this happened to one influencer who stated, “I was in shock and a nervous wreck because this platform is where my income comes from”. Sounds a little scary that we place the hope of our financial stability in a platform that we don’t own right?

Now don’t get me wrong, definitely take advantage of utilizing social media to increase your platform to share your talents and gifts with  the world, however be cognizant of expanding your horizons to make ‘off the camera’ connections. Many social platforms change their algorithms so often that at times it can be hard to keep up. For some that can be extremely frustrating, but they, that’s how this social world works.

One thing I learned to consider when I use my various social media is this: If I did not have these platforms, would I still be able to make impact through my work?

Also, do I use my platforms more as a consumer (endless scrolling for entertainment) or am I using this to expand my business?

To be completely truthful here limiting the time used on social media as a consumer can be a bit challenging.

Honestly, this era is one of the easiest eras to sell yourself to the world. We’re able to give people instant access to our lives and what we do. We’re also able to reach more people and make a huge impact globally.
