Ever felt like you weren’t doing enough? Or even frustrated that you haven’t met your BIG GOAL yet?
I’ve been there and this is something I struggle with often. I am the type of person who believes in continuous improvement. However how can you be the best you and accomplish future goals without acknowledging what you HAVE done?
In our everyday lives we compare ourselves to others- whether it is consciously or unconsciously. Social media has been one of the most influential things to happen in this era. However we also use it as a consistent reminder that people are appearing to achieve much higher goals and live better lifestyles. It’s extremely important to remind yourselves of this:
The definition of success vary from individual to individual.
I know what it is like being a millennial, and a recent college grad trying to figure it out. It’s hard and yet that much easier to beat ourselves up about things we have yet to achieve. If this is you I want you to take a moment to simply Stop. Pause. and Reflect.
Think about your day. What have you accomplished since the moment you woke up this morning? In the last sentence alone there should be one on top of the list. Oftentimes we get caught up in our own thoughts that we rarely make time for gratitude.
Expressing gratitude daily instantly relieves stress and overthinking.
I’m going to share with you something that has personally helped me:
Instead of ignoring our victories and giving ourselves a endless to do list, create an “I Did It!” List. In order for you to go to the next level in life, you have to appreciate every step that has gotten you where you are today. Life isn’t perfect and it never will be.
Appreciate the lessons learned that are disguised as what we identify as failures.
In order to appreciate where you’re going, you have to first appreciate how far you have come.
